Greek electrical retailer Kafkas has started using electronic shelf labels (ESLs) from Chinese firm Zkong in its stores.

The first implementation was completed at one of Kafkas’ 77 stores a few weeks ago, with plans to extend the digital transformation across more locations soon.

The ESL equipment, supplied by local firm Mindsys, a partner of ESL innovator Zkong, is part of the Valley series known for its seamless integration with shelves, 180-degree viewing angles and easy readability.

This system combines hardware and software that changes the management of pricing and information, allowing for real-time operations and eliminating the need for manual intervention.

During the implementation process, the teams at Kafkas and Mindsys collaborated closely to ensure a smooth roll-out.

“ESL technology is a game-changer for the retail industry, and its adoption by a leading electrical equipment provider like Kafkas is a significant milestone,” said a representative from Mindsys. “The benefits of real-time pricing updates and streamlined product management will set new standards in the sector.”

With this move, Kafkas believes it is setting the bar high for retail operations in Greece and Cyprus.

Kafkas provides electrical equipment, technology products, lighting, home and buildings’ automation, and energy management products in Greece. Founded in 1975, the company has a network of 77 stores in Greece and Cyprus.

The company was assessed in 2019 as one of the seven most dynamic companies in Greece among 8000 companies. It is committed to continuous learning and development, offering over 380 educational services through the Kafkas Institute of Training & Development.
