IBS modernises China Airlines cargo operations

China Airlines has selected IBS Software’s iCargo platform to modernise its cargo operations.

Indian firm IBS Software, a specialist in SaaS for the travel and cargo industry, has signed an agreement with Taiwanese carrier China Airlines to deploy iCargo as its cargo management system. The aim is to facilitate the airline’s cargo digitisation through a single platform to increase the synergies across different entities and transform its cargo business globally.

With the platform, China Airlines will transition from its existing cargo system to a single platform that includes sales, import and export operations, air mail handling, and revenue accounting capabilities. It provides automated digital technology for efficiency and opportunities for sales management.

“China Airlines cargo has been endeavouring to modernise our digital capabilities for years,” said Eddy Liu, senior vice president of cargo for China Airlines. “However, we see the evolutional change in digital sales and operations since Covid, and I believed SaaS is the right solution we are looking for. We expect to build up a strong partnership with IBS Software and to realise faster time to market for our products and services without compromising compliance of data integrity.”

China Airlines is a Taiwan-based carrier established in 1959 and has more than 10,000 employees worldwide.

IBS Software is a SaaS provider to the travel industry globally, managing mission-critical operations for users in the aviation, tour and cruise. and hospitality industries. Its software for the aviation industry covers fleet and crew operations, aircraft maintenance, passenger services, loyalty programmes, staff travel, and air cargo management. The iCargo software supports end-to-end business functions such as cargo reservations, rating, manifesting, import and export operations, warehouse management, revenue accounting, air mail handling, and revenue management of cargo carrying airlines and ground handlers.

IBS Software has completed its acquisition of Accenture Freight & Logistics Software (AFLS), which provides technology to help airline and ocean transportation companies manage their freight operations.

The acquisition will strengthen IBS Software’s position as a technology provider to the airfreight industry by bringing together a shared vision for innovating and transforming the air cargo businesses. Boosting the freight business is an increasingly critical priority for airlines and the AFLS acquisition consolidates innovations to accelerate growth, especially AFLS’s cloud-based collaboration platforms. which deliver advancements in airline partnerships.
