Today, Accurant International announced it has reached a solid agreement with Koch Engineered Solutions to acquire its business unit, Sentient Energy.

Sentient Energy provides smart line sensors and software to support distribution grid transformation, including fault and predictive failure detection, outage and wildfire prevention, and reliable power delivery services.

Utilities everywhere are trying to solve for aging infrastructure, enhanced security threats, as well as increasing customer demand (residential, commercial, and industrial). Sentient Energy’s predictive analytics enabled by its grid sensors, helps electric utilities improve grid safety and reliability, lower grid management costs, and extend infrastructure life. It can also cover the distribution system, end to end.

With trillions of infrastructure investment flowing in to transform the US’ Transmission and Distribution systems, there’s a unique opportunity for Sentient Energy to support this transformation.

According to Sentient Energy’s press release, Bob Karschnia, President of Sentient Energy, “Accurant’s partnership with Sentient Energy will help us expand our markets and reach additional utility customers domestically and internationally. Accurant’s commitment to serving utility customers and their proven track record of building world-class technology companies will help us excel in our quest to meet the distribution grid needs of today and tomorrow.”
