Israeli lidar company Innoviz Technologies is working with Arizona-based Sensagrate to enable smart city applications.

With Innoviz lidar tntegrated in Sensagrate’s SensaVision platform, various smart city applications are expected to become available in cities, including lidar-based real-time traffic monitoring and pedestrian safety.

Innoviz makes solid-state lidar sensors and perception software and Sensagrate is a specialist in smart city technology, data analytics and reporting products that enable real-time traffic, pedestrian and cyclist safety on roadways.

The addition of InnovizOne to the SensaVision suite will enable applications that improve pedestrian and automobile safety, preventing near-miss collisions at intersections, collecting data for root cause analysis of pedestrian related incidents through intelligent data collection and predictive analytics.

Lidar-based intelligent traffic decisions can improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion, leading to a decrease in fatalities and emissions. The collection of precise data, derived with InnovizOne on Sensagrate’s system, could advance city planning by allowing predictive models to be built over time that help cities have safer roads while reducing congestion.

Innoviz provides lidar technology to put autonomous vehicles on roads. The technology will be deployed in BMW’s consumer vehicles. Innoviz is backed by partners and investors including SoftBank, Samsung, Magna and Aptiv.
