European micromobility operators Dott and Tier Mobility have won four-year contracts for shared e-scooters in Lyon, France.

The city of Lyon first launched a tender for e-scooter operators in 2020 to regulate the vehicles and improve integration into public spaces. Dott was one of two providers selected, operating with allocated parking as well as safety and environmental commitments for the past two years.

The latest tender at the end of 2022 had more demanding criteria, continuing to improve safety and sustainability, with Dott again being selected and winning an extended, four-year contract.

Residents of Lyon have widely adopted shared e-scooters, with over 450,000 unique users in Lyon during 2022. To support emissions-free transport and improve the sharing of public spaces, the most recent tender focused on four key issues: respecting public space, personal safety, the environment and social commitments.

“Shared e-scooters offer transport to residents and visitors,” said Valentin Lungenstrass, deputy mayor of Lyon. “The two selected operators will offer very comprehensive services, with a particular focus on the safety of users and non-users, integration into public space, and the lifespan of their vehicles. I am delighted with their commitment to creating responsible employment by providing opportunities for people who were out of the job market.”

Dott and Tier were selected for commitments to improving safety and sustainability, and awarded four-year contracts.

“We are very proud of the confidence in our service, once again granted by the city of Lyon,” said Manon Pagniez, regional director for Dott in France. “We have combined responsibility and safety in an ambitious plan at the request of the city authorities, who are demanding and supportive partners. We will extend the lifespan of our e-scooters through a unique refurbishment project, to be presented in the coming weeks, and refocus our efforts to reach the vision zero road safety objective. We are ready to serve the city and people of Lyon for four more years, helping the city to reach its carbon neutral objectives.”

Dott is a European micromobility operator founded by Henri Moissinac and Maxim Romain, with the mission to free cities with clean rides for everyone. Dott operates over 40,000 e-scooters and 10,000 e-bikes in cities in Belgium, France, Israel, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
