Taiwan and California-based EtherWan Systems has introduced a 10Gbit, 90W PoE switch for urban infrastructure and building automation networks.

The EX78900X switch is built to power a wide range of devices using the IEEE 802.3bt PoE (power over Ethernet) standard.

The hardened, managed switch has 12 PoE ports each providing up to 90W power to compatible devices, along with four 10Gbit uplink ports.

It adopts the latest standards to support the long-term networking needs of PoE applications. The 90W PoE system opens the door to many more devices being powered and networked with a single cable, and is backwards compatible with PoE af and PoE at 15 and 30W. The 10Gbit speeds ensure that data-intensive applications can be handled properly.

Additional features provide flexibility and control. With PoE auto-recovery, the switch monitors and automatically reboots unresponsive PoE devices. Built-in digital inputs and relay outputs allow for notification and alarm functionality for devices. PoE power can be controlled granularly, allowing power to be toggled on and off on a user-defined schedule, suitable for PoE-powered security lighting applications.

All of EtherWan’s products are backed by technical support, giving confidence to plan for the long-term needs of networks including maintenance and future growth. Hardened products, backed by a limited lifetime warranty, are rated to operate from -40 to +75˚C and can resist vibration and electromagnetic interference.

EtherWan Systems makes hardened Ethernet, PoE and fibre connectivity products designed for harsh and demanding environments. It specialises in the design and manufacture of Ethernet switches, media converters, Ethernet extenders and PoE products for applications where connectivity is crucial.

Founded in 1996 in Irvine California, EtherWan has its headquarters in Taiwan and California. It became a subsidiary of the German Phoenix Contact Group in 2017.
