California-based TraceSafe has added contactless access control to its IoT platform.

The specialist in location-aware IoT for large-scale industrial and enterprise operations has released a contactless access control system that integrates seamlessly with its entire suite of products and services.

TraceSafe devices now have integrated chipsets that can be programmed to open doors and assign access wirelessly, and are set to be used in future cruise line deployments. Scaling and managing this is made easier thanks to TraceSafe’s cloud-based architecture.

TraceSafe’s products with access control capability are compatible with Assa Abloy’s electronic access-control system. Assa Abloy specialises in access control, operating in more than 70 countries with 48,000 employees and sales of over $10bn.

“IoT is shaping physical access control, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of these innovations particularly as it relates to the hospitality industry,” said Wayne Lloyd, TraceSafe CEO. “We have created multi-year technology agreements with our cruise ship customers and our ambition is to play a central role in helping all enterprises make their operations smarter, easier to manage and more efficient.”

According to Global Industry Analysts, the global market for access control as a service is projected to reach $2.9bn by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 24.2%.

Access control technology provides speed and convenience alongside security features. Device credentials can be activated and deactivated in real time, over the air, presenting opportunities in enterprise, industry, government, transportation, healthcare, education, venue and hospitality management.

TraceSafe has a suite of real-time location management services and contact tracing products enabled through low-power Bluetooth beacons and enterprise cloud management. Its cloud management offering ensures user privacy and administrative control. The firm’s patented contact tracing bracelet has already been deployed in mission-critical quarantine applications around the world in partnership with governments. In addition to its government work, TraceSafe is developing products for enterprise, healthcare, education and large-scale venue management.
