Chinese company Fibocom will be launching its FG160 5G sub-6 module and SC171 5G smart module during next week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, unleashing 5G AIoT capabilities.

This follows the company’s recent launch of the L716-EU LTE Cat 4 wireless module for IoT applications such as industrial gateway, public security and IPC, and news that its FM160-EAU NR sub-6 module has been certified by Anatel.

The FG160 is a 3GPP R16-compliant 5G module adopting LGA plus LCC form factor. The module is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 5G modem, which allows flexibility and ease of integration for IoT deployment, providing 5G network experience for mass data scenarios such as IIoT, C-V2X, HD live streaming and telemedicine.

The SC171 is designed with the Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset, integrating an octa-core processor and vDSP, supporting multiple networks, GNSS positioning as well as rich interfaces. It is suitable for high-end IoT applications including 5G DVR, smart PoS, VR, IPC and UAVs.

The L716-EU LTE Cat 4 wireless communication module unlocks possibilities for IoT applications such as industrial gateway, public security, IPC and MiFi. It supports LTE-TDD and LTE-FDD networks as well as WCDMA and GSM fallback, delivering a maximum downlink rate of Cat 4 150Mbit/s and an uplink rate of 50Mbit/s. The module adopts a LCC plus LGA form factor, with the size of 32.0 by 29.0 by 2.4mm, which is compatible with Fibocom’s NL668 and L610 modules, enabling users to migrate between different technologies.

Along with functionalities such as VoLTE, mux, DFOTA and digital audio, the L716-EU supports Linux, Android and Windows, various internet protocols and standard interfaces including SIM, USB and uart for flexibility and ease of integration. Commercial samples are available for customers.

“Fibocom is pleased to launch the new LTE Cat 4 module L716-EU,” said Jason Zhu, director of Fibocom’s IoT product line. “We are committed to helping the digital transformation for the industry, and our innovative wireless communication modules will enable seamless connectivity for all.”

The FM160-EAU has been certified by Anatel, the national telecommunications agency in Brazil. Complying with the 3GPP Release 16 (R16) standards, it is the first R16-compliant 5G module receiving this certification, which is an important milestone of the product’s entry into the Brazilian market.

Anatel certification is a mandatory step for wireless communication products gaining access to the Brazilian telecommunications market. Completion of this certification ahead simplifies users’ deployment process, laying the foundation for FM160-EAU to support multiple IoT applications in the Brazil.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 modem chipset, the FM160-EAU is a NR sub-6 module backwards compatible with LTE-TDD, LTE-FDD and WCDMA network standards.

The module supports NR CA, delivering maximum downlink rates of 3.5Gbit/s and uplink rates of 900Mbit/s under 5G, suitable for IoT applications that require high data throughput such as IIoT, C-V2X, HD live streaming and telemedicine. It uses the M.2 form factor measuring 30 by 52 by 2.3mm, which is compatible with Fibocom’s 5G FM150 module.

Along with functionalities such as digital audio, VoLTE and VoNR, the FM160-EAU supports multi-constellation GNSS receiver, including GPS, Glonass, Beidou and Galileo, which provides positioning and navigation while simplifying product design.

“We are excited to see FM160-EAU to be the first R16-compliant 5G module certified by Anatel,” said Gene Santana, vice president at Fibocom. “FM160-EAU is a high-value 5G module providing better 5G network experience for mass data scenarios. Fibocom will continuously empower the digital transformation and bring wireless connectivity to a broader range.”
