Austrian Airlines has chosen GE Digital’s Fuel Insight software to help increase fuel efficiency and lower costs.

Part of the Lufthansa group, Austrian Airlines is already a long-standing customer of GE Digital, having used its Safety Insight for Airlines (eFOQA) software for years.

Fuel Insight merges original flight data recorded by each aircraft with operational plans and future flight paths. Using a suite of analytics and reporting tools, it provides operators with trends and actionable insights that allow them to implement sustainable fuel efficiency initiatives.

This empowers teams to visualise and understand fuel usage and emissions, prioritise efforts with the highest savings potential, and track procedure adoption rates across the fleet. Using the software, operators can transform their fuel management practices, achieving cost savings and reducing their environmental impact.

By providing a single source of truth for fuel data, Austrian Airlines will be able to identify areas where fuel usage can be optimised more easily, leading to more sustainable operations and reduced environmental impact.

“We’re delighted to partner with Austrian Airlines on this important initiative,” said Andrew Coleman, general manager for aviation software at GE Digital. “Fuel is a significant cost for airlines, and we believe that Fuel Insight will help Austrian Airlines reduce its costs while helping contribute towards a more sustainable aviation industry.”

Austrian Airlines’ head of operations Wolfgang Wurzinger added: “We have a long-standing relationship with GE Digital, and we’re excited to expand our collaboration with them by utilising Fuel Insight. By optimising our fuel usage, we’ll be able to operate more efficiently and sustainably, which is a key priority for Austrian Airlines.”
