Epson has launched a new range of Moverio augmented reality smart glasses. Designed for tasks such as industrial maintenance, inspection and training, the new glasses support immersive hands-free collaboration between on-site technicians and remote experts.

The smart glasses include a rugged head-mounted or hard-hat compatible headset, binocular Full HD see-through display, centred camera with autofocus and built-in audio, connecting to compatible external devices via USB Type-C connectivity. The BT-45CS includes the additional option of a custom-made intelligent controller that is compatible with a wide range of remote assistance and workflow guidance software applications.

With a USB-C interface the BT-45C headset can tether to a range of Android or Windows host devices. Designed for businesses working in manufacturing, automotive, field service, IT, logistics, and construction, the smart glasses are built with a robust design to withstand demanding work environments.

The Moverio BT-45C and BT-45CS feature Si-OLED technology, a proprietary optical engine, and a binocular see-through Full HD display with a 34° field-of-view to integrate digital content with the outside world.

An adjustable, padded headband and helmet mounting options allow the BT-45C and BT-45CS to fit a variety of frontline work attire and helmet models.

“Field service is undergoing a transformation, with many businesses shifting to remote assistance and adopting immersive AR technology to help enhance work efficiency, save costs and improve workplace safety,” said Nathan Cheng, associate product manager, Augmented Reality, Epson America, Inc. “As a pioneer in the AR space with over 10 years of innovation, the latest Moverio platform delivers advanced image quality in a binocular display with improved performance and wearability to provide a more immersive and shared viewing experience to today’s remote workforce.”
