Spanish drone company Drones4Geology has completed the inspection of a construction site using a drone and smart glasses from New York augmented reality firm Vuzix.

The Vuzix M4000 smart glasses were used to perform a successful worksite inspection via a DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone used by Drones4Geology, a Barcelona based provider of geologic-related drone services. The combined technology was used to access hard-to-reach areas and bring a different perspective of the study area to the end users including the inspection of cranes, elevated facilities and various machinery.

“With the Vuzix M4000 smart glasses and my DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone, I was able to perform a complex flight in very narrow areas and camera view to ensure the best capture of the facilities I was monitoring,” said Fernando Borràs Castelló, cofounder of Drones4Geology. “In summary, I was able to perform my work in a much safer way as I was in visual control of the drone every moment.”

Vuzix supplies smart glasses and augmented reality technologies and products for the consumer and enterprise markets. The company’s products include personal display and wearable computing devices that offer users a portable viewing experience, products for mobility, wearable displays and augmented reality.
