The IoT M2M Council (IMC), with 25,000 members the largest trade organization serving the nascent technology sector called the “Internet of Things” (IoT), has elected as its 2019 chairman Volkhard Bregulla, Vice President, Global Manufacturing, Automotive and IoT at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). Bregulla succeeds Syed Hosain, CTO of Aeris, as the IMC chair, and will be joined for the first time by an IMC Vice Chairman, Sara Brown, VP of Marketing with MultiTech Systems.

“The IMC is unique in that it is gathering at scale enterprise users and OEMs that buy IoT technology,” says Bregulla. “We reach out to those that are actually deploying IoT to learn what their needs are and how we can help them. By aggregating user inputs we fulfill our role as an industry accelerator.”

Front-burner projects for the IMC in 2019 will include an extention of its RFP sourcing program to include connectivity services and hardware, as well new levels of membership. The IMC is currently the exclusive IoT Infrastructure partner for the Consumer Electronics Show, which attracts OEMs serving automotive, wearables, and household goods markets, and will organize an IoT-dedicated pavilion and conference at CES 2019. The group also will hold its first event at Hannover Fair, the largest manufacturing show in the world, in 2019.

“I see a big opportunity in harnessing the IMC to provide tools that can check the pulse of IoT buyers worldwide, almost in an on-demand fashion. We’ve assembled a massive community of IoT buyers that is unique in its breadth and quality, and now we will create new ways to leverage that asset,” says Bregulla.
