Californian smart home company YoSmart integrates Semtech’s LoRa devices into its YoLink IoT consumer products that have been seeing more than 50% growth every month for nearly a year.

“Our mission is to help make home life simple for everyone,” said John Xu, chief executive officer at YoSmart. “Semtech’s LoRa devices have allowed us to make innovative and cost-effective products to successfully achieve this goal. Leveraging Semtech’s LoRa technology allows us to easily deliver coverage to large houses and backyard applications using a single YoLink hub. Also, Semtech’s technology can penetrate dense building materials, such as thick concrete walls, metal mailboxes or refrigerators found in many of our customers’ dwellings.”

YoSmart’s portfolio of 20 smart home and community products sold on Amazon and other retail outlets includes a smart leak system, Amazon’s water leak detector device, smart temperature and humidity sensor, smart door sensor, smart alarm, and a smart home starter kit.

The YoLink products let the devices communicate with each other offline. With this functionality, downstream devices can re-authenticate and communicate using messages and remote controllers even when disconnected from the hub.

The dual mode YoLink plus LoRaWan protocol proprietary feature can be critical for smart home application deployments during power outages or wifi service disruption. The hub works as transparent connection between sensors and the cloud, so users can set up automation of the smart sensors between the home, office and other locations throughout a community.

“The array of LoRa-based YoLink smart home automation products are well suited for do-it-yourself projects due to their ease of installation, non-complicated sensor provisioning and the ability for repeat customers to expand their smart home systems over time,” said Marc Pegulu, vice president at California-based Semtech. “YoSmart and Semtech have successfully introduced enhanced consumer solutions in the expanding global smart home device market that overcome previous challenges associated with connectivity and interoperability.”
