Ford, Waymo, Cruise, Uber, Pony.ai pause tests

Many of the major companies developing self driving vehicles have suspended trials that include safety drivers as a response to the spread of Coronavirus. Companies suspending trials include Google affiliate Waymo, Uber, GM subsidiary Cruise, Toyota partner Pony.ai, and Ford division Argo.

Waymo has halted its self-driving taxi services in Phoenix, Arizona. It is also halting self-driving trials in California. Waymo is continuing with its fully autonomous services.

Uber is pausing both its track and public road tests for the moment.

Cruise, which is owned by General Motors, and a technology partner of Honda, is also pausing its trials and has closed operations in San Francisco.

Toyota funded Pony.ai has paused its California based testing, but is continuing development and testing in China.
