London (25 March 2025): The Board of Governors of the IoT M2M Council (IMC) – with 28,000 rank-and-file members, the largest trade organization serving the IoT sector – has elected Ellen Boehm, SVP, IoT Strategy and Operations at Keyfactor, the industry leader in digital trust for modern enterprises, as its incoming Chair, and Carmen Redondo, Director of Global Marketing for Antennas at leading manufacturer of advanced electronic components KYOCERA AVX, as its Vice Chair for 2025. Election of officers occurred at the IMC’s Annual General Meeting, where the group’s board sets direction for the coming year, held in Barcelona on March 2, just prior to the Mobile World Congress exhibition.

“There are a host of issues facing the IoT sector right now, from international trade relations to AI to new connectivity options – all remain high priorities for the IoT sector. The IMC will continue to provide guidance to its global Adopter Membership on these critical issues,” says Boehm, “That said, security is the burning question for our industry today, and we don’t see that changing in the coming year. We’ll be dedicating significant resources to exploring IoT cybersecurity.”
The IMC formed a Joint Task Force on IoT Security with the Global Certification Forum (GCF) to evaluate a holistic approach to IoT security. That group held its second meeting in March and participants included Samsung, Sony, AWS, Vodafone, Verizon, Thales, Giesecke+Devrient, Qualcomm, Keysight, Quectel, Telit Cinterion, and many more. The Joint Task Force will hold working meetings throughout 2025 and expects to release its findings at year’s end (for more info, click here).
“The IMC will continue its mission of accelerating the adoption of IoT technology for the public good, with cybersecurity fitting perfectly into that mission. Our Adopter Membership is comprised of qualified product makers, OEMs, enterprise users, and apps developers, and our data shows us that they’re looking for answers on this crucial set of issues,” says Boehm.
