Vuzix has won a follow-on smart glasses order valued at over $400,000 from a Fortune 50 global retailer to support warehousing and logistics operations. The order is designed to complete the roll-out of smart glasses based operations across the firm’s supply chain operations.
According to Vuzix, uptake in smart glasses by large retailers and supply chain operations has been driven by COVID-19, which has continued to create global supply uncertainties, disruptions, and inflationary forces which are forcing companies of all sizes to better manage their supply chains. Combined with the ongoing growth of online shopping, attaining new productivity levels for product transportation, inventory management and order fulfilment will become a distinct competitive advantage. Vuzix states that smart glasses are increasingly proving a cost-effective tool to achieve increased productivity and better management of supply chains, and an increasing number of the world’s largest firms are starting to move from trialling them to deploying them.
“Vuzix has spent a fair amount of time and resources honing this technology and we are now seeing growing market adoption of our products that are allowing companies to operate with greater productivity. We are pleased to be working with this client, which represents just one of multiple major retailers either implementing or testing our technology for logistics and warehouse usage,” said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix.
