Mexican grocery chain Super Akí has selected Finland-based retail planning firm Relex to optimise forecasting, pricing and operations across 51 stores.
Relex provides unified supply chain and retail planning technology that Super Akí is using to optimise its supply chain planning, pricing and promotion management, as well as space planning across 51 stores and distribution centre.
The platform will help Super Akí address the complex problems of grocery retail, where accurate forecasting is crucial for fresh produce, perishables and ambient goods across multiple channels. By implementing unified technology across supply chain planning, pricing, promotions and space management, Super Akí should be able to predict customer demand patterns more effectively, optimise inventory levels and reduce waste while ensuring product availability. These improvements should lead to fresher products on shelves, fewer stockouts and a more efficient operation, enhancing the shopping experience across the stores to drive growth.
“Relex’s ability to unify supply chain planning, pricing and promotions, and shelf space management, within a single platform was instrumental in our decision,” said Eduardo Arjona, CIO of Super Akí (corporativo.superaki.mx). “We will be able to improve our end-to-end operations and decision-making capabilities, which will lead to significantly improving our forecasting accuracy and, ultimately, delivering exceptional shopping experiences to our customers.”
The implementation will take place in three phases and features capabilities that will transform Super Akí’s retail operations. The AI-driven forecasting and replenishment system includes specialised optimisation for fresh products, reducing waste and increasing freshness. Promotional planning and price optimisation tools should enhance market responsiveness and profitability. The unified store and cluster-level planogram optimisation capabilities should improve space use, supported by capacity and purchase optimisation features.
“The Relex unified planning will help Super Akí achieve their goals of enhanced customer service and improved forecasting precision,” said Carlos Victoria, senior vice president at Relex (www.relexsolutions.com). “Our technology will enable Super Akí to make more accurate, data-driven decisions that will strengthen their operational efficiency and create an even better shopping experience for their customers.”
The work will be delivered in three stages in collaboration with Relex partner, Logic, part of Accenture. Together, they will bring the delivery and technology advisory services from Logic, paired with Relex AI-driven technology, to develop innovations tailored to the requirements of the Mexican retail market.
“Our partnership with Relex enables us to take our extensive understanding of the Mexican retail market and our operational management experience to drive transformational outcomes for Super Aki that will help them and thrive in this dynamic marketplace,” said Nick Reinbold, who leads the Americas region at Logic (logicinfo.com).
