Sporting Kansas City has added Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to the team’s largest SportingStyle retail store to enhance the fan experience on home matchdays.
The store is near section 131 on the east side of the football team’s Children’s Mercy Park.
Fans will be able to take advantage of the frictionless shopping technology, which allows shoppers to enter the store, grab any apparel and return to their seats without having to wait in a checkout queue. It was used for the first time at last week’s home match against the Houston Dynamo, which Houston won 2-1.
With Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, fans can spend less time checking out and more time enjoying their matchday at Children’s Mercy Park, one of only three MLS stadiums to introduce the functionality. The technology is engineered for the future of shopping by using RFID, which allows fans to pick up SportingStyle items, each with a unique RFID tag that is identified by RFID readers in the exit area. They then tap their credit or debit card at the exit gate.
Customers can access their receipt online at justwalkout.com/receipts.
Sporting KC (www.sportingkc.com) season ticket holders receive a 15% off discount on all SportingStyle purchases, as well as food and beverage orders, at Children’s Mercy Park and will continue to enjoy this benefit with Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. Season ticket holders can receive their discount by showing a SportingStyle associate their digital STM card via the Sporting KC app to receive a physical card that will automatically apply the discount.
Children’s Mercy Park, which was selected to host a Conmebol Copa America USA 2024 match between Canada and Peru in June, continues to add enhancements and upgrades for guests since opening in 2011.
Earlier this year, the venue unveiled Musco LED sports lighting and Daktronics LED displays as well as Evolv Technology’s guest screening and Drink Command’s self-serve technology.
