Two Australian retailers are rolling out a unified commerce platform from Massachusetts-based NewStore to transform their store operations.

Universal Store Holdings will deploy the omnichannel PoS across the company’s two retail brands covering 89 stores in Australia, replacing its legacy PoS system. It selected NewStore to modernise the shopping experience in its retail stores and future-proof the business.

The Universal Store and Perfect Stranger (perfectstranger.com.au) brands will use the NewStore platform to provide a more personalised level of service by consolidating customer, order and inventory data into an easy-to-use iOS app. As a result, each brand’s store teams will be able to assist and check out customers from anywhere on the store floor, using only an iPhone.

“NewStore was by far the most comprehensive and innovative vendor we looked at,” said Nathan Lynch, general manager for IT at Universal Store. “On top of that, their composable, digital-first vision aligns with the principles we are employing across the rest of our technology stack. Rolling out NewStore to all our store teams is the next step in our journey to becoming a more efficient and modern retail organisation.”

Alice Barbery, CEO of Universal Store (www.universalstore.com), added: “Our primary goal is to grow the business. To do that, we had to move off the legacy systems that were holding us back and implement more forward-looking options like NewStore. Not only have they demonstrated proven RoI with like-minded Australian brands, their technology will make it incredibly easy for us to expand our store footprint. With NewStore’s user-friendly platform, we anticipate a seamless integration that will enhance both staff efficiency and the customer experience as we scale.”

NewStore will also let each brand expand on its existing omnichannel capabilities, such as clienteling, endless aisle, store fulfilment, buy online pickup in-store (bopis), and buy online return in-store (boris). Integrating these features will let Universal Store and Perfect Stranger further unify their online and offline channels, enhancing their customers’ overall shopping journey.

“Our partnership with Universal Store and Perfect Stranger proves that we are setting a new standard for retail,” said Stephan Schambach, CEO of NewStore. “We are demonstrating how technology can drive both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. With our advanced omnichannel, we are not just transforming the shopping experience; we are powering more unified strategies that cater to the evolving needs of the industry.”

Universal Store Holdings (investors.universalstore.com) owns a portfolio of premium youth fashion brands and omnichannel retail and wholesale businesses.

NewStore (www.newstore.com) provides a unified commerce platform for global retail brands that want to accelerate their digital transformation.
