Dutch technology group Nedap is implementing its iD Cloud RFID platform across more than 740 Hema stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and France.
By becoming more data-driven, Hema hopes to strengthen its inventory management. Customers will be able to see exactly how many of their favourite items are still available in a store via the app or web site. Store staff should be able to track inventory faster and more accurately.
All Hema stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Austria will be live with the RFID technology by mid-2026, making use of Nedap’s expertise in large-scale RFID implementations. This helps shoppers find the right products at the right time.
Hema chose Nedap because of its expertise in large-scale RFID deployments across multiple countries. But this partnership goes beyond just inventory accuracy, it is a long-term collaboration with room to expand into future use cases.
“This partnership is special,” said Hilbert Dijkstra, general manager iD Cloud at Nedap (nedap.com). “Two Dutch companies with a rich history, innovative spirit and strong customer focus are joining forces. We are proud to support Hema on their RFID journey and look forward to the results we will achieve together.”
Hema (www.hema.nl) is an acronym for Hollandsche Eenheidsprijzen Maatschappij Amsterdam, and is a Dutch variety chain store, characterised by relatively low pricing of generic household goods that are mostly made by and for the chain itself, often with an original design.
