Italian burger chain Smashie is offering an authentic American dining experience with self-checkout technology from Diebold Nixdorf at its newest restaurant in Udine.

Using the DN Easy One, customers can select, order and pay for their gourmet burgers in a fully self-service mode at the counter, reducing waiting times and enhancing overall service efficiency.

The DN Easy One (www.dieboldnixdorf.com/en-us/retail/portfolio/systems/easy/easy-one) is a checkout platform designed to improve the customer experience for self-service and assisted modes. Its configuration and installation options attracted Smashie, which was looking for compact options for use at the counter with the flexibility to adapt quickly to future customer and store design requirements.

With 70% of all transactions completed through the self-service terminals, the approach enhances operational efficiency, allowing Smashie’s staff to concentrate on order preparation while maintaining quality standards.

“The integration of Diebold Nixdorf’s self-service at Smashie’s Udine restaurant underscores our commitment to delivering a seamless and modern customer experience,” said Lorenza Sbarbaro, director at Diebold Nixdorf. “The DN Easy One is tailored to meet the specific demands of the restaurant industry, emphasising speed, simplicity and autonomy for both staff and customers. We are proud to support Smashie’s innovative vision and help redefine consumer interaction in fast-food dining.”

Smashie was founded with the goal of combining a passion for smashburgers and iconic American dishes, crafted with premium ingredients, with a modern and efficient dining experience. The opening in Udine marks the brand’s first step in an expansion across Italy.

Smashie (www.smashie.com), with three locations operating by the end of 2024, is a brand created by Cigierre Compagnia Generale Ristorazione (www.cigierre.com).
