Indiana-based Flying Eye Reality (FER) is using augmented reality (AR) technology to transform any location into a virtual storefront.

Patented augmented and extended reality (XR) technology is powering FER’s digital commerce platform, connecting virtual and real-world locations.

While Apple, Meta and Google are pioneering smart glasses, FER fills a gap by seamlessly integrating AR commerce into the real world with its patented technology. With AR commerce projected to surpass $100bn, FER’s beta launch of Spotselfie AR Meta Stores introduces a platform where businesses, creators and brands can establish virtual storefronts tied to real-world locations.

Powered by FER’s patented AR and XR innovations, these storefronts are fully accessible through mobile and desktop platforms within Spotselfie’s Real-World Social Metaverse.

FER’s four newly granted AR and XR patents for social media and digital commerce secure the process and platform behind these digital storefronts, ensuring a scalable, immersive retail experience that seamlessly blends physical locations with virtual commerce. As smart glasses become more popular, outdoor shopping centres, stadiums, theme parks and university campuses could become key locations for GPS-based AR digital retail advertising.

The beta platform empowers businesses to claim and customise digital real estate, integrating location-based shopping, advertising and social engagement into one seamless experience. Companies can own and customise digital land; businesses can claim their Spotland, select a GPS location, and build their AR Meta Store, mirroring their real-world presence in the metaverse.

Shoppers using AR glasses or mobile devices can explore floating storefronts, view digital merchandise and engage with exclusive promotions. Brands can post videos, photos, AR branding art and special promotions while directly interacting with consumers. Businesses can send notifications to users entering their AR Meta Store, delivering hyper-targeted marketing.

“With Meta betting on social AR, Apple prioritising seamless integration and Google focusing on enterprise XR, the one thing missing is a scalable AR commerce layer, and Spotselfie AR Meta Stores is filling that gap,” said Ray Shingler, vice president at FER.

The AR and XR patents protect the entire process and platform behind AR-based digital storefronts and land leasing, ensuring real-world locations seamlessly integrate into the digital world. These patents enable a virtual mapping system that aligns with physical locations, allowing for AR-based leaseholds over real-world properties. They provide a structured framework for businesses to create, manage and monetise digital real estate within an augmented reality metaverse. They also create the ability to engage with interactive AR elements tied directly to mapped retail locations.

FER (flyingeyereality.com) has 16 granted patents in AR social media and digital land leasing. Its initial AR patent was filed in 2016. The company is also awaiting the examination of additional patent continuations to expand its AR landmine of protection further.

Spotselfie (www.spotselfieapp.com) is the first AR social metaverse, allowing users to own digital land, launch AR storefronts and engage in immersive social networking and commerce.
