Austrian sensing and telecoms company Dot Telematik & Systemtechnik’s solar-powered X-Rayl solar pointer logistics tracker uses the U-Blox Lara-R211 LTE Cat 1 modem with GSM fallback and positioning capability.
 
The Lara-R2 cellular module and Sam-M8Q GNSS receiver in the tracker transmit and receive data concurrently, improving performance with no interference.
 
Dot provides telematics products for logistics and develops intelligent, maintenance-free and robust products and services. It specialises in solar-powered telematics trackers.
 
The X-Rayl solar pointer never needs its batteries changed. Designed for container and cargo tracking, with a focus on rail transport, the telematics box was designed to withstand harsh handling, while providing a robust asset-to-cloud data link to transmit telematics and other sensor data, reporting temperature measurements, movement and door openings in real time.
 
Seeking a modem capable of working in the challenging environment to which its telematics trackers are exposed, Dot was also interested in reducing the number of suppliers on which its product relied.
