Finnish companies Haltian and Wirepas are boosting the accuracy of real-time location services (RTLS), along with scalability and reliability, in large, high-density deployments.
IoT provider Haltian has updated its RTLS offering, delivering accuracy of up to one metre along with scalability and reliability for large facilities with a high number of locators and assets. These improvements stem from recent updates by Wirepas, a specialist in IoT connectivity, and are the result of joint end-to-end testing and in-depth analysis of diagnostic data from multiple real-life deployments.
The improved accuracy is included in Haltian’s Hits asset tracking and inventory monitoring (haltian.com/products/real-time-location-system-rtls), which includes patented system algorithms, completely wire-free energy harvesting locators, and the Nano small IoT asset tag. Deploying Hits in a large building can be done in hours and requires no special training or equipment. This leads to up to 90% savings in installation costs.
The update, available for all Wirepas licensors, improves reliability in situations where an RTLS tag detects multiple locators, which is usual in large industrial facilities, logistics centres and other environments with multiple tracking zones and a large number of assets.
“We are now seeing positioning accuracy of one to three metres in locations where it previously ranged from three to five metres on average,” said Mika Gröhn, vice president at Haltian. “Coupled with other Hits benefits like ultra-scalability and quick cable-free rollout, this sets us apart from the competition. With this new update, we are already receiving positive feedback from our customers.”
Youssef Kamel, senior vice president at Wirepas, added: “Achieving this level of reliability and scalability in large, high-density environments is a significant achievement for RTLS. Our latest updates to the Wirepas positioning library enable performance without compromising cost-efficiency or ease of deployment.”
Haltian (haltian.com) is known for deploying global, high-volume IoT for various industries and use cases. Its products leverage Wirepas’ self-healing mesh technology, designed to create resilient and secure networks without interference with existing infrastructure or systems. Widely used in asset tracking, the technology is scalable and supports low-latency and low-power use cases.
Wirepas (www.wirepas.com) aims to make failure-free connectivity accessible to any enterprise of any size. It makes IoT real through its connectivity software enabling massive decentralised, scalable, high-density and long-range network applications. It serves customers across the world with offices in Australia, Germany, Finland, France, India and the USA.
