FedEx rolls out AI real-time monitoring in Europe

FedEx is rolling out its near real-time monitoring AI services across Europe to give its customers more visibility and control.

The FedEx Surround portfolio for monitoring and intervention is designed to elevate logistics and supply chain management by enhancing control and visibility of shipments.

It will become available in a phased approach, starting with the healthcare sector in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, France, UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. Other European markets and sectors will follow by the end of 2024 and in early 2025.

FedEx Surround monitoring and intervention technologies predict potential disruptions in the shipping process, allowing FedEx and its customers to make informed decisions swiftly. With three levels of service – select, preferred and premium – the tools support a wide range of industries including healthcare, aerospace, automotive and high-tech, providing updates and interventions that ensure the integrity and timely delivery of sensitive shipments.

The suite provides three key benefits to its customers:

  • Flexibility and control: The dashboard provides near real-time global visibility with predictive analytics using machine learning.
  • Value: Special handling enables prioritised boarding and handling, cold-chain support and in- and out-of-network intervention.
  • Peace of mind: Round-the-clock proactive monitoring and intervention with dedicated teams at hubs, ramps and stations, including customised reporting for customers.
