DHL has set up Malaysia’s first 5G-powered artificial intelligence (AI) autonomous inventory management system.
Supported by local telco CelcomDigi’s 4G LTE network and 5G connectivity, DHL has initiated the integrated logistics centre in Shah Alam equipped with the AI and robotics for optimised and efficient inventory management.
Delivered through its recently set up innovation centre, CelcomDigi’s collaboration with DHL leverages 5G technology and AI for robotic inventory management, providing enhanced and efficient multi-story warehouse management.
Using autonomous drones, DHL can carry out daily inventory management and operational tasks with automated stock-taking and computer vision technologies independently and without human error. This should enable efficient stock counting operations, achieving up to 20 times efficiency with up to 100% precision and accuracy. It also enhances space use within the warehouse and reduces daily electricity consumption.
The collaboration should unlock synergies between different industries, delivering elevated logistic operations within an AI-driven digital ecosystem. CelcomDigi and DHL will continue to evaluate the implementation of 5G powered AI autonomous drones and robotic inventory management at all DHL warehouses nationwide.
“The collaboration between our innovation centre and DHL demonstrates the real value and benefits of 5G technology, robotics and AI as part of our continuous effort to drive 5G adoption and enablement effectively with Malaysia’s enterprises and digital ecosystem at large,” said CelcomDigi (corporate.celcomdigi.com) CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi. “As two different industries embrace innovation and digital transformation through productivity and cutting-edge digital solutions, we are reimagining warehouse logistics with an improved efficiency of daily operations. We are committed to build the nation’s most innovative digital ecosystem by co-creating new synergies between different industries, implementing more innovations that will fuel their efficiency and growth, enabling Malaysian businesses to play a leading part in the global digital revolution and digital economy.”
DHL Malaysia (www.dhl.com/my-en) managing director Mario Lorenz added: “This collaboration marks the dawn of a new era in the world of logistics and telecommunications. Our 5G-powered AI autonomous inventory system is not just an achievement but a testament to what is possible when industry leaders join forces to push the boundaries of innovation.”
