AlerTrax has introduced a GPS, wifi and LTE tracking device to provide asset management for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Company founder Paul Dowling said the technology promised to mitigate the costs of equipment loss and theft.

Made for SMBs, this technology is for asset management in sectors such as construction, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, telecoms, logistics and equipment rentals.

The device works indoors and outdoors and provides real-time updates on the movements of assets on trailers, small boats, motorcycles and the like. The built-in GPS technology receives signals from satellites and calculates the location. It sends this information using LTE to a smartphone or computer. Battery life is more than a year in normal use and it comes in an IP67 waterproof enclosure.

SMB owners understand the high costs of misplaced and stolen assets. While there are numerous large fleet tracking options available for big companies, the cost and product availability limitations have until now prevented SMBs from widespread adoption of the technology.

“Imagine arriving at your work site only to find that equipment or vehicles worth tens of thousands of dollars have vanished overnight, a scenario all too familiar for SMBs,” said Dowling, who is also owner of Believe Wireless Broadband.

The US National Insurance Crime Bureau reports that one motor vehicle (personal and commercial) is stolen every 32 seconds in the USA. For small business owners, the impact is more than financial; it is operational paralysis.

In the era of manual, employee-based asset tracking, businesses are left with inaccuracies and inefficiencies in asset management. The shift to GPS, wifi and LTE tracking technologies allows for the location of assets in real time, leading to performance enhancements of 20% to 30%.

The benefits include increased asset use, reduced loss and theft, improved workforce productivity, and enhanced customer service.

“This isn’t just an upgrade; it’s a revolution in operational excellence and market competitiveness,” said Dowling.

Dowling said his personal experience in his own telecoms business showed that this GPS, wifi and LTE device wasn’t simply a tracking system. “It’s a comprehensive asset management tool that empowers business owners to take control long before problems escalate,” he said.

It also provides insights into asset use, thereby offering a means to evaluate employee performance and improve operational efficiency.

Drawing from a two-decade journey through the intricacies of telecommunications and having personally suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in asset losses, Dowling has harnessed his technical acumen to engineer AlerTrax.

Crafted to provide SMBs with control over their assets, AlerTrax (www.alertrax.com) provides real-time precision in asset tracking at a cost tailored for small businesses.
