South Korean firm LG Electronics, through its Nova North America innovation centre, has set up Pado AI Orchestration, a company designed to improve energy management for data centres, commercial and industrial facilities, and microgrids.
Pado will leverage AI and machine learning (ML) technologies to orchestrate power, grid services and distributed energy resources (DERs) so organisations can increase profitability, enhance resilience and improve operational efficiency.
In an era of increasing energy demands driven by the rise of AI-generated content, data centres globally consume an estimated 1 to 1.5% of the world’s total electricity, a figure projected to rise to 4% by 2027. Pado aims to address this with an AI and ML-powered energy orchestration platform for real-time analysis, rules-based optimisation and active energy planning. This helps businesses increase control and value from their energy resources.
“The energy landscape is rapidly changing, especially with the rise of AI,” said Wannie Park, CEO of Pado AI Orchestration (www.pado.co). “It’s crucial that businesses understand these impacts and proactively manage their energy consumption, mitigate risks and improve operational efficiencies. Pado’s goal is designed to empower them to do just that, providing the intelligence and control needed to improve energy usage and build a more resilient future.”
The platform’s core features are designed to offer real-time analysis with AI and ML driven recommendations, load and price forecasting and RoI analysis, enhancement of DERs and acceleration of grid services, data and functionality sharing with third parties via open API, and carbon credit and ESG reporting for corporate requirements.
“LG Nova is dedicated to building businesses that drive positive change and build a better future,” said Sokwoo Rhee, executive vice president at LG Electronics and head of LG Nova (www.lgnova.com). “We recognise that technology plays a key role in the transformation of energy management and the energy industry at large, and we’re committed to leading that charge with Pado.”
LG Electronics USA, based in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, is the North American subsidiary of LG Electronics (www.LG.com), a smart life company with annual global revenues of more than $60bn.
