Seco Energy, a not-for-profit electric utility in Florida, will be the first to use Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Utilities to automate and modernise its grid assets.
The integration of software from SparkMeter, a grid management provider, into the Forge platform will also allow Seco Energy to manage its distribution proactively and better align rates with energy costs.
“As we face increasing demand in our service territory, we need better visibility into our grid – both financially and operationally – to maximise the performance of our distribution infrastructure,” said Ben Dawson, COO of Seco Energy (secoenergy.com). “The Honeywell platform with the SparkMeter application delivers the on-demand insights we need to make better investment decisions and more efficiently use our resources to minimise the economic impact of the changing energy landscape on our customers.”
Forge Performance+ for Utilities (automation.honeywell.com/us/en/software/smart-energy/honeywell-forge-performance-for-utilities) uses analytics to empower utilities with enhanced operational insights while introducing predictive analytics to balance loads on distribution systems. The platform unifies data by merging multiple data sources into a coherent, real-time analytic framework. It can help utility operators adapt swiftly to changes in energy demand and the dynamics of distributed energy resources (DERs).
“By integrating Honeywell’s industrial expertise with SparkMeter’s capabilities, we are helping Seco Energy to proactively manage grid operations with advanced analytics,” said Amol Motivala, president of Honeywell Smart Energy. “By bringing insights to the forefront, this enables utilities to maximise existing asset performance while planning critical investments.”
With SparkMeter’s platform and analytics capabilities, Forge analyses Seco Energy’s asset health and financial performance, providing actionable steps to avoid unnecessary costs.
“Our partnership with Honeywell transforms how utilities approach the energy transition,” said Dan Schnitzer, CEO of SparkMeter. “By providing continuous asset monitoring of grid assets and on-demand financial analyses, we’re enabling utilities like Seco to make data-driven decisions that improve reliability and manage costs during this critical industry transition.”
Forge integrates, organises and visualises data from various sources to accelerate analytics processes and digitalise utility grid data into actionable, real-time business and operational insights. It can run various applications, including from Honeywell and third-party partners such as SparkMeter (www.sparkmeter.io).
