Irish utility ESB Networks is to deploy Temetra, Itron’s cloud-based meter data collection and management system, to read 1.75 million electric meters.

Washington-based Itron has signed a contract to deploy Temetra to optimise operations and improve meter data management for Ireland’s distribution network operator.

ESB Networks will begin deploying Temetra this year in its programme for the roll out of smart meters across Ireland as part of the National Climate Action Plan. With Temetra, the utility will be equipped to read 1.75 million meters across its service territory.

As ESB focuses on creating clean, reliable and affordable electricity, Temetra will help the utility gain better visibility into its distribution network and manage and collect reads from electrical meters via mobile devices. With safety, accuracy and efficiency at the forefront of Temetra, ESB will be able to monitor the status of both meters and the data the meter readers collect. This allows ESB to work more efficiently by using Temetra geo-routing to assign or reassign work quickly based on meter and meter reading location.

Temetra transforms how utilities gather meter data by providing functionality through a streamlined web-based interface. It has the ability to create and assign GIS-based routes based on meter reader location and workload.
