The Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) and Swedish engineering group ABB are strengthening their cooperation to drive smart energy advancements.

In a meeting this month, Dewa welcomed Massimiliano Cifalitti, president of ABB’s smart power division, to its Dubai headquarters.

The visit is said to mark a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Dewa and ABB to drive smart energy advancements, digital transformation and sustainability in Dubai.

The discussions explored potential synergies in areas such as smart grid automation, predictive maintenance and energy management systems. These initiatives align with Dewa’s digital transformation efforts, which leverage artificial intelligence, blockchain and the IoT to build an intelligent and integrated energy ecosystem.

At the meeting, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of Dewa (www.dewa.gov.ae), reviewed Dewa’s efforts in setting up an infrastructure for electricity and water services in Dubai, in accordance with international standards, for electricity generation, and water production, transportation and distribution. He noted that Dewa provided its services as per high standards of availability, reliability and efficiency for all customers, partners and stakeholders.

Al Tayer affirmed that as part of its efforts to lead the clean energy transition, Dewa remained dedicated to fostering global collaborations and adopting ways to ensure Dubai’s leadership in sustainability and smart infrastructure development. Dewa integrates technologies and forges global partnerships to optimise energy efficiency, elevate service reliability and support Dubai’s sustainability goals.

Al Tayer underscored Dewa’s role in advancing Dubai’s status as a global model for clean energy and green economy innovation in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. He noted the importance of the partnership with ABB, pointing out that innovation, sustainability and digital transformation were the cornerstones of Dewa’s journey towards building a more efficient, reliable and sustainable future.

By collaborating with global technology companies such as ABB (global.abb), Dewa says it is accelerating progress towards realising Dubai’s vision for a smarter, greener city powered by clean energy.

Cifalitti reaffirmed ABB’s commitment to supporting Dewa’s innovative projects and contributing to Dubai’s long-term sustainability objectives.
