Danfoss acquired another portfolio piece from Amper Oy in February this year, strengthening its smart grid offerings. The acquisition included the purchase of Amper Oy’s 1500 VDC converter technology, along with its product team into Danfoss’ Electrification Solutions.
The need for increased storage capacity and more robust and resilient energy storage systems is on the rise, particularly as companies and countries race to meet aggressive 2030 decarbonization targets. Having more sophisticated technologies at hand can make the world of difference.
The acquisition of the ACE300 product will allow for Danfoss to continue to support and expand its offerings within the battery energy storage systems (BESS) market. These systems can be used for several things, including mobile power supply, surplus power absorbed from renewables to be used later, and manage peak in industrial facilities, as well as generally stabilizing the existing power supply.
All of this is coming when energy generation, transmission, and storage infrastructure investments are at an all-time high due to federal funding opportunities.
Clayton Gibbons, Head of Electrification System & System Drives with Danfoss, said, “This portfolio expansion is extremely relevant to serve projects within the United States Bipartisan Infrastructure Legislation (BIL) and Department of Energy (DOE) programs in particular. Danfoss has never been more relevant within powe4r conversion, partners can expect continued world class solutions as a result.”
It will be interesting to see how Danfoss continues to bolster its Electrification Solutions division and the role it will play in energy systems management moving forward.
