According to Oilman Magazine, Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), will play a critical role in enhancing automation and operational efficiencies for the Industrial Oil and Gas (IO&G) market if it can get over regulatory and operational hurdles. Especially within remote locations, there’s untold value to be unlocked.
The transformative qualities of Artificial Intelligence, coupled with connected devices have begun to disrupt and streamline industries throughout the world. The industrial sector is ripe for this kind of innovation to not only create efficiencies and find ways to reduce waste and cost, but also to help unlock undiscovered opportunities and new revenue streams.
Yet, taking a technology-first approach can prove faulty when implementing AIoT in the IO&G environment, particularly when getting the necessary buy-in from on the scene operators. According to Krishna Uppuluri with Oilman Magazine, “While technical challenges exist, the real complexity lies in integrating innovative approaches into the traditionally risk-averse and change-resistant mindset prevalent in the industrial landscape.” Overcoming cultural mindsets can be tough, especially if the business case and user experience aren’t lockstep.
Getting the right buy in with a targeted business case can help create the right environment in which an AIoT solution can cause a cascade of transformation within the IO&G and beyond.
