Kane County, Illinois, has awarded Iteris a three-year contract to support a Transportation System Management and Operations programme. The programme incorporates a smart mobility, safety and sustainability initiative.

Iteris will manage around 140 signalised intersections and flashing beacon locations, 1,400 street light locations, and the county’s centrally controlled advanced traffic management system (ATMS) network.

The scope of work includes traffic signal system monitoring, operational troubleshooting, signal coordination, traffic studies, support for the arterial operations centre, electrical maintenance supervision, and other technical services.

The contract builds on an existing relationship between Iteris and Kane County. This began in 2018 and has seen the implementation of Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) strategies to reduce travel times, fuel consumption, and emissions.

“We are proud to continue our collaboration with Kane County through the renewal of our existing work that advances their smart mobility goals,” said Steven Bradley, senior vice president of mobility consulting solutions at Iteris. “This expanded partnership underscores our shared commitment to improving safety, mobility and sustainability for all road users in the county.”

Other organisations employing Iteris for TSMO programmes in the region include the Illinois Department of Transportation, Lake County Division of Transportation, City of Joliet, City of Aurora and the Village of Schaumburg.
