Texas-based GovComm has announced a national roll-out of its AI-based wrong-way vehicle detection technology. The company is targeting agencies and departments of transportation nationwide following its acquisition by Synapse ITS in June 2025. Synapse ITS is investing heavily in GovComm’s technology and supporting its expansion countrywide.

GovComm is one of six wrong-way vehicle detection systems on the Florida Department of Transportation’s approved list. The company presently accounts for more deployments than all others combined, with over 400 installs in Florida. Florida DOT’s systemic deployment of GovComm systems helps prevent wrong way crashes using processing technology deterrents and sending real-time alerts to traffic management centres.

The GovComm solution uses AI and bi-spectrum cameras with integrated sensors. Transportation agencies throughout the US can now access GovComm’s technology through the company’s expansion backed by investment from Synapse ITS.

“The GovComm system has redefined wrong-way vehicle detection in Florida,” said Dan Skites, Executive Vice President, Sales, Synapse ITS. “This national roll-out reflects our commitment to helping agencies across the US adopt smarter, safer roadway systems. We’re proud to bring unmatched accuracy and reliability to communities nationwide — there’s no question that this technology will significantly reduce dangerous incidents.”
