Dutch micro-mobility company Dott has launched its shared e-scooter services in Israel in its first deployment outside Europe.

Dott’s e-scooters are unlocking Tel Aviv with the claimed lowest fares in the city, providing a service that should help create cleaner air and less congestion for residents.

A fleet of 1800 e-scooters will be available for Tel Aviv residents and visitors, allowing users to benefit from an enjoyable travel experience that makes it easier to discover areas and unlock experiences.

Dott supports regulation to ensure its vehicles are integrated carefully. In major cities across Europe, the company has collaborated with city authorities to adapt its service to meet requirements, with slow and no-go zones, allocated or recommended parking spots, and by ensuring availability in areas less well connected by public transport.

With large 30cm wheels, front, rear and indicator lights, triple breaking and licence plates, Dott’s e-scooters are built with safety in mind. All the vehicles are fitted with helmets, exceeding the legal requirements. Software controlling the e-scooters sets a speed limit of 25kph, as well as incorporating slow and no-zones and providing e-learning modules available through an app to ensure responsible riding.

Mechanics ensure maintenance of vehicles to improve availability. All charging happens on site to ensure 100% control.

Pricing in Tel Aviv is one ILS per minute, with no unlock fee, and value passes are available by the day (40 ILS for ten rides) or month (120 ILS for 30 rides), to reduce costs for regular riders. New riders are being offered their first ride free, and Dott will be developing partnerships with local businesses to provide bespoke offers for their customers.

“Our e-scooters offer the most efficient way to travel across Tel Aviv without causing congestion or pollution and at the lowest prices,” said Ben Gailli, city manager for Tel Aviv at Dott. “We are bringing our experience from major European cities to ensure that our service is carefully integrated into the city, offering a reliable service for our riders while respecting other road users and pedestrians.”

The micro-mobility company is working to reuse, upcycle or recycle 100% of used vehicles and parts, and aims to exceed a five-year life-span for its vehicles. Dott is targeting a 100% electric logistics fleet and renewable energy in all its cities. The service is designed to be accessible and Dott works closely with local communities, aiming for equal coverage across the areas it serves and partnering with local organisations to help improve the cities in which it operates.

Dott is a European micro-mobility operator founded by Henri Moissinac and Maxim Romain. It operates over 40,000 e-scooters and 10,000 e-bikes in cities in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and UK. Dott has won two of the biggest micro-mobility tenders in the world, in Paris and London. It has a staff of over 600, with its main teams in Amsterdam, London and Paris.
