Signify has added a generative AI assistant to the Philips Hue smart lighting and home security offering.

The AI assistant can help users personalise lighting for every moment. In addition, the Philips Hue Sync TV app is now available for LG TVs, and smoke alarm sound detection and expanded voice and app controls have been added to Philips Hue Secure.

Dutch company Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, has added features and accessories to Philips Hue to improve how users illuminate, entertain and secure their homes.

The generative AI assistant in the Hue app delivers personalised lighting scenes based on mood, occasion or style. Available this year, the assistant lets users type or speak commands to create a better ambiance, with feedback features ensuring continuous improvement.

“This marks a new era in smart lighting,” said John Smith, who is in charge of Philips Hue at Signify (www.signify.com). “Our AI assistant is just the beginning of a smarter, more intuitive home experience.”

Hue Secure integrates cameras, sensors and lighting for seamless home protection. Added features include:

  • Smoke alarm sound detection: Receive instant alerts and activate navigational lighting during emergencies.
  • IOS widgets and voice control: Access live camera views or schedule system settings directly from a device.
  • Enhanced compatibility: Stream live camera feeds to Amazon Alexa, Google Nest Hub and more.

A 3m USB-C power cable increases flexibility for camera placement.

The Philips Hue Sync TV app now supports LG TVs (WebOS24+), offering dynamic light synchronisation for all content, from streaming apps to gaming consoles. Previously only available for Samsung TVs, the app supports formats such as Dolby Vision and 8K for immersive lighting experiences.

“We’re proud to extend the Philips Hue Sync TV app to LG TVs, making it easier than ever for our users to enjoy immersive entertainment lighting direct from their TV,” said Smith. “This partnership is a mark of our commitment to more strongly connect Philips Hue to the smart-home ecosystem.”

Philips Hue extends its reach with, in North America, Impress outdoor lights and Datura ceiling panels debut. And in the Pacific region, the HDMI Sync Box 8K and Solo lightstrip launch sets standards in entertainment lighting.

Philips Hue (www.philips-hue.com) has a range of smart LED bulbs, light fixtures, lamps, sensors and smart switches. The smart lighting system lets users set the mood with colours and scenes, set up timers and automations, and use the best light for daily activities.
