The Samsung SmartThing connected living platform has strengthened its partnership with Philips Hue, one of the premier smart home companies specialising in lighting, security and controls.
Philips Hue used the SmartThings developer centre including the Certification by Similarity programme, to certify 155 additional products as Works with SmartThings (WWST).
SmartThings’ ecosystem enables seamless connectivity across a wide range of smart-home product categories. With these additional Philips Hue lighting products, users gain access to a broader selection to simplify life, enhance enjoyment and create automations with other Works with SmartThings products.
“SmartThings has been a key partner for us and we are excited about the opportunity to add our latest model line-up to the Works with SmartThings ecosystem,” said Winny Fong, director of smart-home partnerships for Philips Hue (www.philips-hue.com). “We can’t wait for users to enhance their smart homes with Philips Hue and SmartThings.”
To help partners reach Samsung’s global user base, SmartThings has invested in multiple tools to make integration easier. In particular, SmartThings has expanded the Certification by Similarity programme making it easy for partners to certify whole portfolios of products easily and quickly.
Once certified, WWST provides co-marketing and go-to-market benefits for partners. These include showcasing products in the SmartThings app and online with retail purchase links and collaborating with digital content and campaigns, PR opportunities, and events to promote the brand to the Samsung SmartThings audience.
“We are always striving to make the Works with SmartThings Certification process easier and efficient for partners,” said Aaron Swift, SmartThings director of product management. “Our latest updates to our developer centre have enhanced our offering to partners. As a pioneer in smart lighting, Philips Hue has set the standard for innovation and reliability. We are pleased to expand certification to their full lighting portfolio, ensuring more consumers can experience their high-quality, connected lighting.”
SmartThings continues to invest in the developer centre (developer.smartthings.com) and recently added partner tools such as a test suite, product cloning and Certification by Similarity (blog.smartthings.com/developers/expedite-your-wwst-certification-how-product-cloning-and-certification-by-similarity-save-you-time-and-money) to simplify product integration and certification for a single product of an entire portfolio. After integration, analytics help partners gain product usage insights. Additionally, SmartThings has made it simple to certify Matter products.
