IoT platform Pepper has launched a smart help security feature to provide homes with a low cost alert support in an emergency. The company’s Send Help feature provides smart home users with expanded protection without the price tag of more advanced home security systems. A user with a single camera can take advantage of the service.

With a button-push, users can request help from their camera’s live view in the app or directly from a notification. After confirming the emergency via text or call, an agent will request dispatch for relevant emergency services. For expanded security, users can use the siren and scene features to turn on all of their camera sirens during an emergency situation.

Users can download, share and rewatch video clips, and add up to 10 cameras to the plan. The system can detect persons, animals and vehicles.

“We’re excited to offer our customers this new security feature to enhance their connected home experience,” said Sol Hedaya, Category Manager at Merkury Innovations. “The Pepper platform has not only provided a single app experience for our smart home products but allows us to bring best-in-class services to our customers.”

“Home security doesn’t have to be limited to costly systems,” said Scott Ford, CEO at Pepper “We’re thrilled to be able to offer a more accessible security feature on our platform for users – whether they have ten cameras or one.”
