Maryland-based Origin AI has developed a way to use wifi to work out if movement was caused by a person.
The home security company has announced two advancements using its wifi-based intelligence – a zone-level intrusion detection feature for its flagship TruShield Security product and the official debut of AI Sensing, a platform that transform wifi motion data into meaningful actionable insights
TruShield Security now allows homeowners to understand where motion is occurring inside the home without the need for cameras, geofencing or added hardware. It distinguishes between activity in specific zones such as the living room, bedroom or kitchen, providing spatial context in a simple, consumer-friendly format. This lays the groundwork for more personalised home intelligence in future updates.
Origin has also introduced AI Sensing, its proprietary platform that is said to take wifi sensing into a new era. Unlike traditional motion detection technologies that simply checks if something moved, AI Sensing goes further by deciding if it was a person.
At the heart of AI Sensing is Verified Human Presence, a classification engine that discerns human activity from pets, fans, sunlight or other motion noise. The result is a reduction in false alarms and notification fatigue, two of the biggest frustrations in the DIY security market.
“AI Sensing is why ISPs view TruShield Security as a breakthrough for the DIY market,” said Robin Crawford, chief business development officer at Origin AI. “It delivers trusted, person-aware alerts, cutting false alarms and making self-monitored security truly smart.”
Origin AI (www.originwirelessai.com) is a pioneer in wifi-based intelligence for the connected home. With technology deployed by tier-one carriers and used by top security providers, Origin transforms everyday routers into sensing platforms. The company offers scalable, privacy-first products that enhance safety, comfort and peace of mind.
