Nokia is a collaborating with California-based Ruckus Networks, a CommScope business, to deploy seamless in-building and campus-wide connectivity tailored to the needs of diverse industry verticals.
This partnership offers integrated fibre and wifi for delivering broadband service inside MDUs (multi-dwelling units), offices, large venues, hospitality, medical facilities and other enterprise segments.
Fibre is a game changer for campus and in-building connectivity due to its ability to offer future-proof capacity while reducing power consumption and cost. In addition to providing a single network for all services, it can connect wifi access points. The combination of fibre and wifi delivers robust and scalable connectivity across mobility, IoT and digital transformation initiatives.
This joint offering combines Nokia’s fibre-based optical LAN with enterprise wifi and switching from Ruckus Networks (www.ruckusnetworks.com), creating an integrated infrastructure.
“The partnership between Nokia and Ruckus Networks will change the economics for the in-campus connectivity for enterprise and vertical segments,” said Bart Giordano, senior vice president at CommScope (www.commscope.com). “We can now provide everything needed to quickly establish a LAN that can deliver fast, reliable and secure broadband access services. It will also allow us to future-proof their networks and ensure the next generation of value-added services can be delivered easily.”
Sandy Motley, president of fixed networks at Nokia (www.nokia.com), added: “Fibre is a fantastic technology with a wide range of benefits. As an optical LAN, it can reduce energy costs by 40% and TCO by as much as 50%. When combined with Ruckus’ industry-leading wifi portfolio, we are creating campus connectivity that will allow enterprises to grow their business, reduce their costs and be more sustainable.”
And Jaimie Lenderman, principal analyst at Omdia (omdia.tech.informa.com), said: “As broadband access demands continue to grow, this partnership exemplifies the potential of aligning like-minded objectives to deliver fibre-based options that can support the diverse network requirements across a variety of industries and verticals.”
