Canadian firm Latium Technologies has integrated PCL’s Job Site Insights (JSI) smart construction platform into its IoT operating system.

“This agreement brings together PCL’s dynamic and highly capable smart construction platform, Job Site Insights, with Yonder, Latium’s IoT operating system, to create a best-in-class and most widely capable smart job site platform,” said Tony Pecorilli, Latium’s president. “This newly combined platform will allow site supervisors, project managers and executives to enable critical business insights and predictions based on real-time data, allowing them to adapt to changing conditions, enhance worker safety and project quality while maximising efficiency.”

The Yonder platform is used by the oil, gas and mining sectors, supporting clients such as Trans Mountain, Enbridge, TC Energy and Suncor, while JSI is used by PCL, Webcor Builders and Belgium-based Furnibo Construction. Combined into one platform, this technology is being offered via a software-as-a-service model, a shift said to reduce capital costs on job sites.

“At this point, the sky is the limit when it comes to capability and industries we can service,” said Pecorilli. “The work to combine the platforms was completed over the summer and fall of 2020 and is available immediately.”

Mark Bryant, PCL’s CIO, is joining Latium as CEO starting this month. Bryant’s construction and engineering industry expertise should enhance Latium’s knowledge and capability in the construction sector.

“I’m very excited to assume this new role and continue to advance Latium’s industry-leading solution supported by a world-class team,” said Bryant. “The combination of these two technologies will provide clients with superior IoT technology, enabling competitive advantage by providing a holistic view of their entire operation and generating better data-driven business decisions. I look forward to building on Latium’s considerable legacy of creating value for their clients and employees.”

Through this merger, recognising this integration’s inherent and immediate benefits, PCL has plans to implement this sensory technology on its construction sites throughout 2021.

Founded in 2019, Latium has become a go-to IoT provider for heavy industry in Canada.
