Italian energy company Enel has launched Homix, a smart home ecosystem with Amazon Alexa built-in. It can manage heating, home security and lighting.
 
Launched through the Enel X brand, it can help families save energy and simplify their life while respecting the environment. It is available in Italy and soon in Spain.
 
A single smart home device allows for easy management, even remotely, of heating, security, lighting and all other devices of the smart home ecosystem. Homix is said to combine simplicity and convenience to make smart home technology accessible to all. And it integrates with Alexa, Amazon’s intelligent cloud-based voice service.
 
Homix starts with the features of a smart thermostat and becomes a complete ecosystem for the home, capable of learning habits to simplify the daily life of families. It can be operated by voice, by using the touch screen installed on the wall, or outside home with a dedicated app.
 
“Enel X’s goal is to offer products and services that can improve users’ lives and protect the environment through simple solutions that are accessible to all,” said Andrea Scognamiglio, head of the home services division at Enel X. “Based on this principle, we offer a complete smart home system that allows customers to maximise the comfort of their home and save energy and money.”
 
The heart of the smart home is Homix Home, the command centre that connects to all Homix devices to make the home more comfortable, efficient and safe. The device also has a touch and voice interface, integrated with Alexa, designed to improve ease of use. Alexa can therefore be asked to play Amazon Music, set reminders for daily activities or increase the temperature of the home.
