Assurant TechPro supports connected devices for property managers and tenants

Assurant, Inc., has launched what it claims is the first tech support solution designed to help residents of multifamily housing troubleshoot problems with their connected consumer devices. The business services firm is selling Assurant TechPro to property owners and property management companies as a way to increase value for renters and enhance their brand perception.
Assurant TechPro gives residents instant access to Assurant’s tech support team via call or chat to help solve connected tech related issues. For property managers, the company claims the service will alleviate their tech-related maintenance ticket burden. The service comes with an app that provides residents with access to Assurant’s 24/7 self-help content, allowing the opportunity to for users to troubleshoot issues on their own at any time.
“By introducing Assurant TechPro, we’re setting a new benchmark for innovation within the multifamily housing industry,” stated Ryan Lumsden, president of Renters Solutions at Assurant, in a press release. “As leaders in the multifamily housing industry, our role is not only to protect our property management company clients and end customers, but also push the industry forward and enhance the rental experience. This new offering underscores our dedication to driving innovation and creating net new value for our partners and customers.”
With U.S. renters seeking more smart amenities in their homes, they expect building management to assist with tech-related issues such as device set-up issues, troubleshooting electronic issues, and Wi-Fi connectivity problems, Assurant claims. Research conducted by Assurant revealed that 20 percent of maintenance calls from residents to property managers are related to tech support issues, and 86 percent of renters believe that integrating a tech support service into their building could enhance the brand perception for property management companies.
“Our research tells us that on average, a person has 6.8 connected devices, and is going to need tech support at some point,” stated Joe Settimi, senior vice president of Renters Solutions at Assurant, in a press release. “For property managers, Assurant TechPro provides a valuable new amenity that can help them stand out with residents, while reducing tech maintenance responsibilities and driving revenue.”
