Swiss IoT firm Akenza has entered the UK market through a partnership with Bunch Tech, a specialist in smart building analytics.

The collaboration will power smart building technology spanning energy optimisation, space use, air quality and employee well-being across a growing footprint of commercial properties.

Bunch Tech will deploy a range of smart building applications built entirely on Akenza’s platform, including occupancy and space monitoring, smart cleaning, indoor air quality monitoring, and sustainability and energy performance analytics.

The rollout begins immediately, with 20,000 devices across 300 locations already scheduled for onboarding. Delivering a deployment of this size in such a short timeframe marks a major operational and technical milestone for both companies.

Akenza is a self-service, low-code platform that enables organisations, from start-ups to global enterprises, to build, deploy and manage IoT rapidly at scale. Its unified platform connects and controls a wide range of devices in real time, streamlining everything from data integration to device management. By seamlessly integrating across systems and delivering actionable insights, Akenza directly addresses the evolving priorities of building owners and operators.

Initial customers include global enterprises with UK headquarters across sectors such as professional services, retail and facilities management.

“This is a major milestone in our mission to make IoT more accessible,” said Jonas Schmid, co-CEO of Akenza. “Smart buildings represent a powerful use case for the next wave of connected technologies, and by partnering with Bunch Tech, we’re enabling more UK businesses to create intelligent, responsive environments that scale.”

Fred Moore, managing director of Bunch Tech, added: “With rising energy costs, aging building infrastructure and evolving workplace needs, businesses must rethink how their spaces operate. Akenza gives us the flexibility and robust capabilities to offer real-time, data-driven services that not only cut costs but dramatically improve building performance.”

Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Akenza helps companies worldwide develop their own smart IoT. Thanks to its low-code IoT platform, it reduces the technical complexity and effort companies have when creating their IoT services.
