ABB has launched a cyber-secure integration platform designed to connect, manage and optimise building operations.

The Ability BuildingPro is available across more than 40 countries worldwide, supporting sectors including commercial real estate, education, healthcare, hospitality and government, helping organisations accelerate decarbonisation and digital transformation.

Acting as a central intelligence hub, it unifies data from building systems to improve performance, reduce energy use and enhance occupant experience. Built on OpenBos, the platform’s open, edge-based architecture delivers seamless interoperability, cyber security compliant with the latest international cyber-security standards and regulations, and the flexibility to integrate future AI-driven tools. This makes it a future-ready foundation for digital transformation in buildings of all types.

As part of the launch, ABB is introducing Ability BuildingPro Vision and Edge, two integrations that bring the platform’s capabilities to life. Working together, they help building owners, operators and system integrators monitor, control and optimise performance in real time across a single building or entire portfolios.

“Buildings today need to do more; they need to be smart, adaptive, sustainable and secure,” said Lucy Han, business line leader at ABB. “With ABB Ability BuildingPro, we are helping our customers take control of their building data, make smarter decisions in real time and accelerate their journey towards decarbonisation, all while creating more comfortable, productive spaces for people.”

BuildingPro Vision gives facility teams an intuitive, live view of building operations. Through a dynamic, web-based interface – complete with animated floor plans, asset views and dashboards – it enables real-time monitoring and control of key systems and spaces from a single platform. With its accessible design and local or cloud deployment options, Vision empowers operators to make faster, smarter decisions on-site.

The BuildingPro Edge hardware controllers collect and process local building data. Designed for secure connectivity between on-site systems and the cloud, they also support future predictive analytics and AI-driven automation.

Buildings account for around 30 per cent of global energy consumption and 26 per cent of emissions. By helping users visualise and act on their energy data, BuildingPro provides a tangible way to reduce consumption, lower costs and accelerate progress towards sustainability goals.

Beyond energy performance, the platform – together with its Vision software and Edge devices – also helps create healthier, more comfortable environments while strengthening cyber security and operational resilience.

As buildings evolve and sustainability targets tighten, it helps users meet new demands with flexible, scalable technology that protects long-term investments as building technologies and regulations continue to advance. Built on an open, cyber-secure architecture, the platform (new.abb.com/low-voltage/products/building-automation/product-range/abb-ability-buildingpro) integrates with legacy devices and future smart technologies, supporting widely adopted protocols such as Bacnet, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks and MQTT. By combining edge and cloud technology, open data standards, and smart digital tools, ABB says it is reinforcing its commitment to creating smarter, more sustainable spaces.

Swiss and Swedish firm ABB (www.abb.com) specialises in electrification and automation, enabling a more sustainable and resource-efficient future. The company has over 140 years of history and around 110,000 employees worldwide.
