Vodafone leads in IoT Roaming ranking

According to a study by Juniper Research, Vodafone retains its crown as the leading provider of IoT roaming connections. The report examines the state of the market, and competitive positions of eighteen leading IoT roaming vendors.

The study predicts that by 2028, there will more than 600 million roaming IoT connections, up from 145 million in 2023. This growth in roaming connections will depend on new roaming standards to detect, and monetise IoT roaming. The report identifies BCE (Billing & Charging Evolution) as a critical technology to enable operators to identify new roaming connections.

The report includes Juniper’s latest Competitor Leaderboard for the IoT roaming market. This analyses the comprehensiveness of offerings across 18 key IoT roaming vendors, as well as the innovation and future prospects of vendors.

According to Juniper, the top vendor is Vodafone, which leads across both vectors in terms of capacity and capability, and of product and positioning.

The second placed provider is Telefónica, which beats third placed Tata Communications on capacity and capability, but not on product and positioning.

According to Juniper, Vodafone Roaming Services’ continued expansion of its global IoT roaming network results in the company retaining its market-leading position. The report says the company’s “comprehensive portfolio of IoT management solutions and significant coverage places Vodafone Roaming Services as the leading IoT vendor to enable operators to maximise future inbound roaming revenue.”
