At this month’s LightFair in Las Vegas, Altair subsidiary Toggled announced it had integrated LoRaWan sensor technology into its Toggled iQ platform.
This enhancement enables seamless building connectivity of diverse IoT sensors and devices over an extended range, increasing efficiency and unlocking limitless data-driven options, ultimately driving businesses towards a smarter, high-performance future.
With the addition of LoRaWan sensors, Toggled iQ provides building owners and facility managers with a private and secure network for real-time monitoring and automation across critical building systems. Leveraging LoRaWan’s low-power, long-range capabilities, the system connects sensors across large buildings and industrial sites, even through walls and floors where wifi may fall short. This makes it suitable for applications such as HVAC monitoring, air quality tracking, water leak detection, asset optimisation and security upgrades, all designed to enhance operational performance and reduce energy use for lower costs and less environmental impact.
“The integration of LoRaWan technology into Toggled iQ underscores our commitment to providing the most innovative, cost-effective, scalable and easily integrated buildings,” said Jack Ivey, vice president at Toggled. “By expanding our IoT capabilities, we’re empowering building owners and managers with the data and control needed to optimise efficiency, strengthen security and advance sustainability, critical factors in today’s built environment, where climate adaptation, building resilience and risk reduction are more important than ever.”
Benefits of Toggled iQ integrated with LoRaWan-enabled sensors include:
- Expanded communication range: Securely connects sensors up to 16km beyond the facility for extended coverage.
- Cost savings and energy efficiency: Reduces energy consumption and operational expenses while optimising facility management resources.
- Enhanced tenant satisfaction: Tracks occupancy trends, room temperature and lighting to ensure comfort, with automation enabling real-time adjustments.
- Real-time insights and predictive maintenance: Identifies early signs of equipment malfunction to prevent breakdowns, reduce downtime, and improve operations and energy efficiency.
- Seamless integration: Supports Toggled iQ’s rules management engine for automation and connects to building management systems via Bacnet IP.
- Flexible deployment: Works alongside Bluetooth Low Energy mesh technology to provide versatile smart buildings.
The LoRaWan-enabled sensors combined with Toggled iQ analytics deliver deeper visibility across buildings, helping businesses future-proof against inefficiencies and environmental risks. With expanded coverage inside and outside, the platform enhances facilities management, energy efficiency and system performance. Real-time insights, accessible via a mobile app and dashboard, help reduce costs, prevent system failures, boost security and support sustainability, while potentially lowering real-estate insurance premiums.
