The Greek municipality of Parga has selected Constrat to deploy 7000 water meters with Sigfox Hellas to transform water management.

The deployment leverages Sigfox 0G technology to provide energy-efficient data collection, and sustainable water metering for the benefit of communities and the environment.

As a domain expert, Constrat’s decision to choose Sigfox 0G technology was because of its low-cost and energy-efficient nature, making it suitable for a difficult field installation.

The water meters use the Honeywell Merlin 868 HB-G3, a module that simultaneously supports Sigfox and WMBus protocols, providing SLA and quality of service guarantees.

“We are thrilled to provide the municipality of Parga with smarter and more sustainable IoT,” said Kostas Stratis, CEO of Constrat. “By partnering with Sigfox Hellas, we aim to reshape the smart water metering landscape in Greece by bringing cost-effective metering that can help Greek municipalities address the challenges of water scarcity, non-revenue water and water leakages.”

As the 0G network operator of Greece, Sigfox Hellas is committed to supporting the project in coverage of the 0G network by deploying base stations in the region of Parga to ensure the deployment of Sigfox-powered water metering.

“We are committed to supporting our partners and customers to deploy massive IoT projects that require high standards of reliability and sustainability, especially for water metering where longevity requirements and rollout budgets are critical,” said Evangelos Argyris, CEO of Sigfox Hellas. “Together with local domain experts like Constrat and UnaBiz, who have connected millions of meters worldwide on the Sigfox 0G network, we are confident to bring smart metering to scale in Greece.”

Sigfox Hellas is supported by UnaBiz, the owner of Sigfox 0G technology, guaranteeing the longevity of the network and services in Greece in the coming years.

“Having connected over 2.6 million smart metering sensors worldwide, of which over 50% are for water metering, UnaBiz brings unparalleled expertise to the deployment of massive-scale utility projects on Sigfox 0G technology,” said Dharmesh Goshalia, regional director of UnaBiz. “UnaBiz is committed to ensuring a high standard of reliability and sustainability, crucial for metering projects, where longevity and budget considerations are critical. Together with Sigfox Hellas and local domain experts like Constrat, we are poised to scale smart metering in Greece.”

Constrat (constrat.gr) is focused in the field of smart management of water supply, irrigation, rainwater and sewerage networks. It carries out research and development in many sectors, with 23 years of experience in the water-wastewater field.
