Sequans Communications has launched the Iris range of RF integrated transceivers for software-defined radio (SDR) applications.
Purpose-built for mission-critical use in defence, aerospace, drones, vehicle-to-everything (V2X), routers and other 5G systems, the Iris line comes from Sequans’ acquisition of ACP earlier this year.
ACP, a specialist in RF semiconductors, has shipped millions of RF transceivers powering applications such as 5G small cells, drones and V2X systems. This acquisition combines Sequans’ position in IoT with ACP’s RF expertise to deliver RF for SDR.
“With Iris, Sequans is redefining what’s possible in software-defined radio technology, delivering unmatched performance, integration and adaptability for the most demanding RF applications,” said Georges Karam, CEO of Sequans. “The Iris line addresses previously unmet needs in mission-critical SDR applications. We are thrilled to integrate ACP’s exceptional technology into this new product line.”
The flagship Iris SQN9506 is a wideband RF transceiver for high-performance, robust, multi-channel communications in a compact, power-efficient form factor. Frequency range is 220MHz to 7.125GHz with 200MHz instantaneous bandwidth. Channel density is 20 Rx and four Tx, supporting up to 4×4 MIMO. There are ten RF synthesisers for concurrent scanning and observation. Anti-jamming capabilities include unlimited frequency hopping with fast switching. It supports DigRF v4.0 and JESD204C. Power consumption in sleep mode is 0.2mA, in standby 3mA and idle 8mA. It comes in a 8.4 by 4.8 by 1mm 178-pin BGA package and it will interfaces with any FPGA processor.
